Everything You Need to Know About Thigh Lifts
Women’s bodies are constantly under scrutiny. There are multimillion dollar industries for diets, creams, lotions, supplements, machines, and laser treatments to tone, tighten, and change your outward appearance. When it comes to your thighs, going straight to the source of the issue is faster and more effective than wasting time and money on superficial treatments.
If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your thighs and want dramatic, lasting change that leaves you with a body you can be proud of, you’ve come to the right place. DiGeronimo MD Advanced Plastic Surgery offers thigh lifts to get rid of the excess skin and fat that causes “thunder thighs” while toning and tightening your skin so there’s no sagging or bagging when the job is done.
The thigh lift procedure
Our expert plastic surgeon, Dr. Ernest DiGeronimo meets personally with you to discuss your aesthetic goals. He does a complete evaluation and will let you know what you can realistically expect from a thigh lift. We’ll also go over what needs to be done in preparation for your procedure, which could include coordinating with your primary care doctor to suspend certain medications in the days leading up to your surgery.
When it’s time for your procedure, you’ll either receive sedation or be under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. Dr. DeGeronimo makes one or more incisions on each of your thighs, usually starting at the groin and wrapping around either the front or back of your leg. This allows the removal of excess fatty tissue and skin, contouring your thighs for the desired appearance.
Dr. Geronimo places the incisions strategically to hide as much scarring as possible. He uses deep sutures in the interior layers of soft tissue inside your thighs to create a robust framework and contour the shape of your upper legs, then finer, smaller sutures as he gets rid of excess skin and closes the incisions. The final closure of the outermost layers of skin may require clips, fine sutures, or even just skin adhesive tapes for minimal scarring.
Thigh lift recovery
You’ll be able to see immediate results, even under the inevitable swelling and bruising, and within a few weeks those postsurgical effects will fade. We’ll see you frequently in our office to check on your progress and your sutures.
Dr. Geronimo will prescribe necessary pain medication and antibiotics to prevent any infection and keep you comfortable during your recovery. He’ll also make sure you know what level of activity you can have and when you should start walking to support the healing process and maintain flexibility.
